Living With Art

Art+Estates is the next chapter of a multigenerational family business — one built quietly, over half a century, with discretion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our clients and trusted colleagues.

Rebecca Michelman, Founder Art + Estates

Rebecca Michelman is an art market veteran with over two decades of experience facilitating complex, high-value transactions for an international roster of clients.

As a principal dealmaker in Impressionism and 20th-century art, Rebecca has orchestrated the acquisition and sale of eight-figure artworks through strategic positioning, rigorous due diligence, and disciplined negotiation. Her expertise spans market valuation, authentication, provenance research, condition assessment, and historical analysis — skills honed through decades of direct market engagement and a family legacy spanning over half a century.

That experience includes her negotiating the acquisition by the Louvre Abu Dhabi of a major French Impressionist painting — and the private placement of historic paintings such as a Monet Waterlilly from the David Rockefeller Collection to a private collector in Asia.

She has spent years helping clients navigate consequential decisions — among them stewarding the disposition of a $100 million collection, where careful market strategy across private sale and auction produced results that substantially exceeded the estimates of other advisors, including a world record for one artist.

With the launch of Art+Estates she brings that expertise to bear on behalf of collectors, heirs, fiduciaries, executors, attorneys, and wealth managers navigating significant art holdings — and directs every estate engagement personally. From market analysis to auction negotiation and final settlement, she delivers the strategic insight and client advocacy that her clients depend on.

Amy Michelman brings over 20 years of specialized experience in the private sales market for 19th- and 20th-century art, with a particular focus on Impressionism, Modern, and Post-War works.

Her career has been shaped by a rare combination of connoisseurship, market intelligence, and a deeply personal understanding of the art world cultivated from an early age.

Growing up with a pioneering art dealer mother, Amy had a front-row seat to the relationships, negotiations, and curatorial decisions that defined a successful international practice. That formative experience instilled both a refined eye and an understanding of the delicate intersection between art and commerce—a balance she has navigated with integrity throughout her career.

Before entering the business, Amy trained as an artist—a background that sharpened her visual acuity and deepened her sensitivity to the aesthetic, technical, and art historical qualities that distinguish exceptional works. That foundation informs every acquisition and disposition she advises on today.

Over two decades, Amy has managed and negotiated six- and seven-figure sales, building long- standing relationships with private collectors, galleries, dealers, museum professionals, scholars, and conservators across the international art market.

Her clients value her talent for spotting opportunities before they reach the broader market, her rigorous approach to due diligence, and her ability to guide complex decisions with patience, clarity, and strategic insight.

Amy understands that private sales require a nuanced process—one that demands time, trust, and careful consideration. Whether advising on valuation, navigating authenticity questions, or structuring negotiations, she approaches each transaction with tact, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to her clients' best interests.

At Art+Estates, Amy leads the private sales practice with the same rigor and relational approach that have defined her career: informed by deep market knowledge, grounded in connoisseurship, and executed with integrity at every stage.
